Fishing

Fishing calendars can be found online and will vary throughout the year. The best fishing is species dependent but Los Cabos never disappoints when it comes to amazing fishing. Whether you prefer surf casting your own set up on our beach, heading to La Paz for a panga trip or the ultimate off shore adventure of off Cabo, you will undoubtedly come home with food to eat. See the restaurant list above for our experience with local establishments that will cook your catch. Bring a hard or soft cooler on your visit with us to bring home your leftover catch.

If you are into serious off-shore fishing, don’t forget the Los Cabos Offshore and
Bisbee’s Black and Blue Tournaments. Both are in mid to late October and are the
highlight of the fishing world in Los Cabos.

Santa Maria Bay and Chileno Bay: Each a short drive up the cape on Rte 1 from downtown CSL. Santa Maria is first going up and both are accessible by car.

Playa Palmilla: Farther up the coast from Playa Chileno. Excellent reef close to
shore for a great snorkeling experience.

Cabo Pulmo: Truly one of the best that Los Cabos has to offer. A Natural Marine Reserve that is approximately 62miles from CSL on the East Cape. One of three thriving hard coral reefs in North America. Super clear water, gentle currents, warm sand and easy access make for great snorkeling and diving. An absolute must when visiting Los Cabos if you are a water lover!!

Swimming & Snorkeling

As a rule, swimming in Los Cabos is not easy or recommended around most of the cape due to strong currents, steep shorelines and large waves. That being said, there are in fact a few spots to swim, snorkel and relax in the water. Pelican Rock and Lover’s Beach: Requires a quick water taxi or boat ride from the Cabo marina, but a great place to see El Arco, the seals and pelicans. Must be aware of boats at Lover’s Beach as nothing is roped off for swimming.

We have found 3 very swimmable locations during our time in San Jose the closest to Casa del Mar is Tequila Cove Beach. It is a short drive but also a walk-able distance up the shore from Casa del Mar in front of the Hilton property.

Next is Playa Santa Maria. This is about a 5 minute drive south of our condo and is in front of the Montage Resort in Los Cabos. It has public access, ample parking and great snorkeling. A must if you want a great swimmable beach day!

Last is Chileno Bay Public Beach. Found In between Casa del Mar and Playa Santa
Maria to the south of us. A quiet, swimmable spot with snorkeling, bathrooms
and umbrella and chair rentals if necessary.

Surfing

Surfing, Seasons and Surf Breaks: June thru November are the summer months and are known for the best Southern Hemisphere swells.

March thru May is the windiest and swells are the biggest with less crowds

December thru February are the quietest with the East Cape and Costa Azul calming down. The Pacific side can produce waves because of the west>east swell.
